*Some language, as always, and some sorta graphic details in the movies*
You were really pissed at the calendar. Yeah, sounds pretty crazy, but you couldn't help it. Halloween was on a WEDNESDAY. That was impossible! Going to school after going trick-or-treating, staying up til two in the morning, gorging yourself on candy? No. Nope, nope, nope, nope. It cannot be so. You denied it.
You were walking home from school on that accursed Wednesday, passing everyone's "Spooky" looking houses. The occasional fake spiderweb here and there, Styrofoam tombstones, and windsocks scattered across each lawn. School was pretty boring, as usual, not learning anything due to your friend's disruptions.
Vladimir lived right next to you, and you had the pleasure of sitting next to him in all your classes. You never got anything done because of his babblings about stories involving Dracula, vampires, werewolves, the such. He would sit there and interrupt the learning environment, saying random things like, "So-and-so took his victims and bathed in their blood." And disturbing things that creeped most of your classmates out. You seemed to be his only friend, but that was because you found his stories interesting. The whole Gothic-feeling of them made you feel fuzzy inside. The whole beauty of it all fascinated you, and you'd gladly listen to him retell your favorite stories in your boring Literature class.
You two walked down the street, coming up to your house.
"Hey, __________, do you think you would like to watch some scary movies with me for Halloween?" Vladimir asked expectantly. As you walked down the cobblestone sidewalks, you looked over at the strawberry-blonde. He was grinning in your direction, red orbs gleaming with anticipation. You couldn't help but smile at this. Even though you really wanted to go snag some free candy from neighbors you hated, watching movies with Vlad is an event you wouldn't miss for the world.
"Sure! I'd love to!" You replied, after thinking it over.
Vladimir punched the air and said, "That's great! First we'll start out with Halloween, then we'll watch my favorite, The Collector. And if you're up to it, Friday the 13th will come after that. Any more you'd like to watch, my friend?"
You shook your head. "Nah, I think those will be good. I haven't seen any of them, but I heard they're terrifying."
"That's exactly the point! Isn't it great?" He grinned.
You pushed him slightly in the forearm, then grinned and walked into your house waiting for night to fall.
----Timeskip to movie time----
Vladimir grabbed a huge bowl of popcorn and thrust it into your lap. You grabbed a glass of milk and started Halloween. Thankfully, no stubborn illiterate kid came around to ring your doorbell, ignoring the sign that said, "TAKE CANDY HERE" On your door above the bucket of chocolates and sweets being held hostage outside before being mauled by little children.
The first movie creeped you out and caught you by surprise at the moments where something popped out of the shadows, making you flinch and grab the arm of Vlad. He never jumped or cringed at any of the grotesque figures displayed on the screen, but he did glance down at your wide-eyed, intrigued look on your face a couple times when you let out little squeaks. He didn't seemed concerned, more like amused by your small, nagging fear on your heartstrings.
When the first one was done, you shuddered and let go of his arm, finding out that you were clenching it far more tightly than you thought you were. You popped in the next DVD, The Collector.
As the movie began, you took your place back beside Vlad. He didn't seem to mind your shaking body clinging to his.
"Y'know, if you don't wa-"
"No. I'm gonna watch all these movies through to the end." You stated, determination thick in your voice.
He nodded, "Alright then!"
*Skip this part if you get queasy easily at horror movies. It's basically a synopsis of the movie the Collector.*
The movie went on, showing a man, who was hired to steal a jewel from a man's house, and something peculiar happens. Due to a mysterious red box being opened, a stranger is running around in the man's house while the robber is trying to, well, rob it. The Collector sets up tons of booby traps in the house, and one step can decide your fate, but the robber is too smart for the Collector's actions. He somehow walks around the house undetected, until screams from downstairs stir his stomach. He goes to see what's going on, and the man who lives in the house had been murdered, intestines strung all around the place. His wife was soaking in a bathtub full of a flammable liquid, and she was blindfolded. She needed the robber to save her little daughter without the Collector finding her. The robber had succeeded, finding the daughter and pushing her down a laundry chute before the Collector could get her. He goes down the chute himself, where he finds the child had hid under a desk and chair against a wall. The Collector then proceeded to torture the robber, who was now a hero, and he took the pain so he wouldn't find the daughter. Eventually, they escaped, the robber and the child, but! since nobody who meets the Collector ever survives, the Collector had to get his revenge. When the bloody robber was hoisted into a ambulance, as it was driving down the street, something hits it, and there he was- the Collector. He took out the paramedics and plunged a syringe into the robber's side. The Collector then got away, and the robber died.
When the movie turned black, you were shivering against Vladimir's red coat. He chuckled. "Ah! I love that movie! Absolutely magnificent! You up for another...?" As he turned to look at you, he saw that you were mentally scarred for life. Your eyes were watering slightly as you watched the credits roll down the screen. He clicked his tongue and asked, "Aw, did _______ get scared?"
"Y-Yes...!!" You stuttered, having your thoughts be haunted by the Collector's masked face and cloudy eyes.
He laughed again, much to your frustration, and took you into a hug. You gladly took his warm arms around yours and covered yourselves with a blanket over both your heads. Everyone knew monsters couldn't get you if there was a blanket on your head! Since you were caught up in your fears, you didn't notice Vlad snuggle his face into your hair, inhaling your scent.
"Mmmm... you smell spectacular, ________." He whispered.
"This is no time to be joking! Damn, that movie just... ughhublubhrgdfm! It's freaky!" You spat back.
"That's why I love it so much! That and I wanted an excuse to hold you like this. I can be pretty selfish at times..." He mumbled back.
At his comment, you let go of him and hugged you knees under the blanket, trying your best to hide your red face from the handsome Romanian. But it was futile, since his index finger and thumb was controlling your chin, bringing your face closer to his.
"I'm glad you appreciate my stories. Not many people would sit through a scary-ass movie with me and still be conscious." He said as he laid his forehead on yours. The credits just ended, sending it back to it's main title. The brightness of the T.V. shone through the thin blanket that was still atop both of your heads. Vladimir took you face in his and muttered, "Don't be scared, my little doll. I'm here with you."
With this, he leaned in and gave you a quick, yet passionate kiss on the lips. Before you knew it, you were grinning like an idiot and you had already flung your arms around him again, sending him on his back, and you on his stomach on the couch. You turned the T.V. off and cuddled against his chest as Vlad stroked your hair, allowing you to drift off into a nice, non-Collector filled dreamland. He sang Romanian songs in your ear as your breath quieted and you went to sleep.
A bright yellow light tinged your eyelid under the brown blanket. At first, you didn't know what had happened, but memories of your movie expedition with Vladimir last night flooded into your mind once more, reminding you about creepy movies. But now the creepy season was over, and it was now thankful season. 'I'm very thankful for Vlad...' You thought sleepily as you squeezed his red coat. his hand was still on your hair, and his breath was steady.
'Ah... November 1st, a day of thankfulness...' you thought with supreme bliss.
"AUUUGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! TODAY!!! OH SHIT, TODAY'S THURSDAY!! WE ARE TOTALLY LATE FOR SCHOOL!!" You hollered, getting up from Vlad's body and scrambling to find your stuff. Just when you were about to sprint upstairs to get dressed, Vlad caught your hand. You were looking down at him from the couch, making him look upside down. His flyaway hairs made him look even more attractive than usual.
"It's the day after Halloween, doll. Nobody's gonna be at school anyway. One day won't hurt." He said.
Then, to your utmost horror, your mother came downstairs and saw you with Vlad. She knew he stayed over, but you thought she'd thought you had already went to school and she was about to yell at you.
Actually, she just winked and said, "Exactly. Go have a fun day playing hooky with Vladdy, ________."
Vlad smiled and got up from his position on the couch, whispering in your ear, "We'll have a fun day, won't we, doll?"
